GREASE AUDITIONS!!!!

The PLHS Theatre Department is proud to announce our Spring musical selection: GREASE; A timeless 1950's high school coming of age story which celebrates all things San Diego: cool cars, burger joints and rock-n-roll.  Performance dates will be April 12th, 13th, 14th, 20th, & 21st, all @ 6:30 pm.

AUDITIONS:

***ALL POINT LOMA STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO AUDITION FOR GREASE***

We will be holding an AUDITION WORKSHOP this Thursday from 3-5:30 pm in the PAC with vocal director Tom Venefreddo and theatre director Heather Pauley. Sign up with Ms. Pauley in room 509. This is an amazing opportunity to get familiar with the songs and character sides before auditions. It's also a chance for students who feel hesitant about their vocal strength to gain experience and support from professional musical theatre performer and all around lovely human being Tom Venefreddo. If for some reason you cannot attend the workshop you are still able to audition on Monday. Audition materials will be available in room 509 after the workshop.

Auditions will be Monday January 30th and Tuesday January 31st from 3-5:30 pm. All auditions will be held in the PAC. You will need to sign in and get audition information from the stage manager before auditioning.

MONDAY: Singing/Acting
TUESDAY: Dance/Group singing
THURSDAY: CALLBACKS (posted on call board Wednesday Feb. 1st)

Shakespeare Auditions

Continuing with the traditions of years past, we in the Theatre Department are participating in the 2012 English-Speaking Union's National Shakespeare Competition. Students compete at the school-wide level in front of myself and another faculty member with twenty lines from a Shakespearean monologue. Whomever wins the school-wide competition will advance to the next level of auditions at Balboa Park on February 6th as well as an invitation to a special Shakespeare workshop taught by graduate faculty from USD on January 21st, 2012. I've been offering Shakespeare workshops and monologue coaching to interested students. All students interested in participating must sign up with me by this Friday, January 13th. Break a leg! (Figuratively, not literally, please!)

Welcome Drama Pointers!

Yes, we have made it into the year 2012 and the Point Loma High School Theatre Department is proud to announce that we have our very own BLOG!! Here you will find a solution to all your theatre needs. A one-stop-shopping spree if you will of information and opportunities.

My goal as head of the Theatre Department at Point Loma High School is to continue the tradition of excellence in the Theatre Arts.
To encourage respect and understanding among the actors, technicians, directors and playwrights.
To challenge theatrical scholars to read more plays, poems and prose.
To become inspired by the world around and courageous in the story-telling tradition.

The craft and skill a student learns in their high school theatre class is truly priceless. They learn to relate to each other on a human level, to live for a moment in another place and time, to have empathy for the human experience, and to work together for a common goal.

Thank you for taking an interest in the arts and we hope to see you soon!
